SAP Calculations
With the introduction of the April 2006 Building Regulations, Part L1A the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) is the UK government’s approved method of assessing a building’s energy performance and is now mandatory for all new build dwellings. It is also necessary for all new dwellings to provide the prospective property owner with a full Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) and Recommendation Report.
As accredited SAP Assessors, we are able to complete your SAP calculations and reports from the drawings and specifications, if the design fails to meet any of the criteria needed to pass we will give you as much guidance & advice as you'll need to comply.
The SAP calcs, Part L Compliance Report and Predicted Energy Assessment are carried out at the initial design stage of the build and the calculation is based on the carbon emissions of the proposed dwelling. For the initial design submission reports, we would require you to provide the following information.
Once the building has been completed and the air pressure tests obtained, the final Building Control Report and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) can be issued.

For the initial design submission reports, we would require you to provide the following information.
- Property Address and postcode
- A set of drawings to include plans of the dwelling layout and elevations of each exposed wall, either drawn to scale of with the key dimensions clearly marked
- A site plan of the proposed development showing adjacent buildings or obstacles and orientation

- Details of the construction of the external elements of the build with sufficient detail to enable u-values to be calculated
- If accredited construction details are used. Checklists can be found at the following link:

- Details of any secondary heating provided.

- Number of Chimneys and Flues
- Number of Internal Lights, standard and low energy fittings
- Details of any electricity generating equipment (solar photovoltaic, wind turbine or micro CHP)
- Details of any other Renewable Energy systems (Ground/Air/Water Source Heat Pump, Solar water heating)
Once the building has been completed and the air pressure tests obtained, the final Building Control Report and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) can be issued.
We can assisst with SAP calculations for:
- New Build Homes - SAP Calculations to help you comply with Part L1A of the Building Regulations and obtain the mandatory Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).
- Over glazed Extensions - SAP Calculations to help you comply with Part L1B of the Building Regulations if the glazing in your extension is over 25% of the floor area.
- Conversions - SAP Calculations to help you comply with Part L1B of the Building Regulations if you are changing the use of a building to become a dwelling.
