Part L1B SAP Calcs for ConversionsA SAP Calc will be required if you are proposing to develop a new dwelling from an existing building such as a Barn Conversion, conversion from an existing commercial premises or maybe splitting a large house into several self contained flats. Unlike a new build SAP Calculation, assessments for conversions do not include the DER/TER comparison although all other areas must comply with the requirements of Part L1B and a EPC must be provided on completion.
Here to help you comply.To demonstrate compliance, an energy model of the proposed conversion is created so the total annual CO2 emissions can be calculated. This is then compared to a 'notional' dwelling with minimum u-values, standard openings and minimum standards for heating/cooling systems.
Provided the CO2 emissions of the proposed dwelling are lower than the notional dwelling then a report can be produced to demonstrate compliance with the regulations.
